fisherchad+FollowWrong Rod = No Fish (Learn From My Mistakes)Been fishing for 10+ years and still see people with completely wrong rod setups. Last weekend watched a guy try to catch bass with a surf rod - painful to watch! Here's what actually works in different situations: 1️⃣ Beginner bass/panfish - 6-7ft moderate-fast spinning rod. Long enough for good casting distance, sensitive enough for light bites, but forgiving for mistakes. Spinning reel keeps it simple while you're learning. 2️⃣ Saltwater kayak fishing - 6.5-7.5ft medium-heavy fast action rod. Shorter length gives better control in tight kayak space, but still has backbone for reds and snook. Go with whatever reel type you're comfortable with. 3️⃣ Big catfish with heavy bait - 7-8ft extra-heavy moderate action casting rod. You need serious power for heavy sinkers and big cats, but moderate action lets them take the bait properly. What's your go-to setup? Anyone else made embarrassing rod choice mistakes early on? #finshing #FishingTips #FishingRod #FishingGear89Share
kdiaz+FollowDoes a longer rod really cast farther?Generally yes, but it's not that simple! Longer rods give more leverage and line speed, but technique and rod action matter more. My 7ft medium-fast outcasts my buddy's 8ft heavy every time. #fishing #FishingTips #CastingDistance #AnglerLife2232Share
BlossomBee+FollowFishing buddies, Cleaning a Fish is Easier Than You Think!Gut your fish as soon as you can after catching it. If you want to keep fishing, keep the fish alive in a bucket of water or on ice until you’re ready. Cut a shallow line from the anus up to the base of the gills with a sharp fillet knife. Don’t go too deep—just enough to open the belly. Scoop out all the guts with your fingers or a spoon. Make sure you get everything, including any dark kidneys along the backbone. Rinse the inside thoroughly with cool water. This helps get rid of any leftover bits and keeps the flavor fresh. Scrape off the scales using the back of a knife, working from tail to head. If you’re dealing with a catfish or similar, peel the skin instead. Dispose of the guts properly—never just leave them lying around. #FishingTips #FishCleaning #OutdoorCooking #Food #Cooking163Share
fisherchad+FollowStop listening to these fishing advice! 🚫Over the years, I’ve learned that some of the worst fishing advice comes from the loudest voices. Here’s what I’ve stopped listening to: 1️⃣ Big box store employees - Most have never wet a line. Their "expertise" comes from product manuals, not actual fishing experience. 2️⃣ Gear snobs who critique your setup - I've caught more fish with garage sale gear than some guys with $2000 setups. Don't let anyone shame your equipment - it's about skill, not price tags. 3️⃣ Big box store "sales" - I always walk out with way more junk than I need. Those end caps are wallet killers! 4️⃣ Expensive reel + cheap rod combo - Biggest mistake ever! Your rod does ALL the work - casting, feeling bites, setting hooks. Reels just hold line and provide drag. What's the worst fishing advice you've gotten? #fishing #FishingTips #AnglerAdvice #SmartFishing295Share

jasonking+FollowDid I wreck my first baitcaster? 🎣Got my first baitcaster (Zillion) and immediately started messing with every knob like a kid with a new toy. Turns out you're NOT supposed to touch the tension knob on these - they come factory set! Tried to fix it based on YouTube videos but still feels off. Everyone says Zillions are amazing, but mine's been nothing but frustration. Anyone else made this mistake or have tips? #fishing #baitcaster #zillionreel #fishinggear #fishingtips90Share

kdiaz+Followtexas-rigged flukes are my go-to lureBeen throwing the weightless Texas-rigged Super Fluke for years—it’s hands-down one of my favorite ways to fish. Watching that strike just under the surface is such a thrill. One trip on the Roanoke River, we were pulling in stripers almost every cast. For stained water, I always reach for a bubblegum Zoom Trick Worm—rigged the same way. That color just works. Anyone else a fan of flukes or trick worms? What’s your go-to setup for stained water? #fishing #bassfishing #fishingtips #texasrig481Share
fisherchad+FollowIf your knot’s solid, you don’t need gear crutchesStop relying on snaps and swivels! Double uni knots slide through guides like butter, Palomar knots never fail on terminal tackle. My setup: braid mainline with mono backer, 6-10' leader. Just grabbed Yo Zuri super fluro after losing a PB to abrasion last week (double uni held though! 😅). Check your line constantly for nicks, especially around knots. That's where most breaks happen. Proper knots > extra hardware every time. #fishing #fishingtips #fishingknots150Share
kdiaz+FollowAnyone tried corn as bait? It actually works! 🌽Heard people talking about using fresh corn for summer fishing, so I decided to give it a shot this weekend. And it actually worked! Not sure if I just got lucky or if corn is really that effective, but I'm definitely happy with the results! Sometimes the simplest baits are the best ones. Has anyone else had success with corn? #fishing #CornBait #FishingBait #FishingTips14065Share
