Mary Jones+Follow$90k for 7 Therapy Sessions?!I just found out my psychologist billed my insurance $90,000 for only 7 sessions. That number seriously shocked me. Has anyone else had something like this happen? Makes me wonder how these billing systems even work. #MentalHealth #InsuranceIssues #Therapy #Health20Share
Ara+FollowIs It Pointless to Talk to Friends About Problems?Last weekend, I caught up with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while. I asked how he was doing and if he had any close friends to confide in. Surprisingly, he said talking to friends about problems is pointless. He has “functional” friends—people he shares activities with—but no close friends. He prefers to talk to a therapist when he needs to unload. He believes discussing his issues with friends would only burden them. I couldn’t disagree more. I feel such connections are vital. I “need” close friends for emotional support and exchanging ideas. Plus, therapists aren’t available for a spontaneous chat at, say, 7 PM on a Wednesday evening. How about you? Do you think talking to friends about problems is beneficial, or do you prefer other avenues? #Friendship #MentalHealth #Therapy #EmotionalSupport #CloseFriendships81Share
herreradennis+FollowThis Therapy Changes How You ThinkJust learned about MERIT therapy and it’s kind of blowing my mind! It’s designed for people with serious mental illness, like schizophrenia, and instead of just treating symptoms, it helps you actually understand how you think (and how others do too). Therapists are super open and real with clients, and the whole process is about making sense of your world together. Early studies say it’s helping people reflect and recover in new ways. Theresa Mccoy+FollowPersonality Test Could Change Bipolar CareTurns out, your personality might hold the key to better bipolar disorder treatment! herreradennis+FollowPTSD Wiped Out by Nerve Zaps?!This is wild: a new study paired vagus nerve stimulation (think tiny device zapping your neck) with regular PTSD therapy—and every single participant lost their PTSD diagnosis for at least six months. That’s 100% remission, even for folks who didn’t respond to other treatments! The device is smaller than a dime and doesn’t mess with MRIs or anything. Next up: bigger trials and maybe FDA approval. Brandon Burke+FollowWhy Mental Health Care Feels Out of ReachTurns out, money stress is making it way harder for people to get the mental health help they need. Nearly 3 in 10 say cost is the biggest reason they can’t see a pro, and most feel totally alone dealing with financial anxiety. Only 14% are actually in therapy right now, but tons are trying to cope with music, hobbies, sleep, and hanging with friends. It’s wild how much our wallets and our well-being are connected! #MentalHealthMatters #FinancialAnxiety #Wellness #Therapy #SelfCare #Health91Share
