Our first home has so much wood trim... 😩 What do I do?!

We're buying our first house! Seriously it's amazing, but there is just SO MUCH wood trim everywhere. It has its charm, but it's definitely making the place feel a little stuck in time. My wife is totally against painting any wood. And I'm honestly right in the middle. We're planning to paint the walls anyway to freshen things up, but this trim situation is stressing me out.
