Should I Tell My Boss I'm Retiring Soon? I'm Stressed! 😰

Hey friends, I could really use your advice. I’m turning 65 in September and planning to retire at the end of the month. I work at a mid-sized auto parts plant in Texas, and I’m the only CAD designer in our small engineering team. The company’s been great to me, and I don’t want to leave them scrambling to fill my spot. I’ve actually got someone in mind for my replacement—he’s a former coworker who already knows most of the ropes. But I haven’t told my boss or HR anything yet, and I’m stressing about the right time to break the news. Six months feels too long, but I don’t want to leave them in a bind either. I remember how tough it was when I started, and I want to make the transition as smooth as possible. How much notice did you give when you retired? Any tips for making this easier?
