how did my forgotten tomato plant become the hero of my backyard?

I totally spaced on this one tomato plant in the corner of my yard. Weeks went by, and I barely even glanced at it. But then, out of nowhere, I spotted a bunch of tiny green tomatoes fighting for space among the weeds. Turns out, tomatoes are tougher than I thought. I guess the little bit of rain and the sun did most of the work. I started pulling weeds and gave it some water, and it just exploded with fruit. Now I always leave a few plants to do their thing and check on them every so often. Sometimes, less fuss means more tomatoes.
