Manuel Bright+FollowWhat do you hunt in the off-season?Deer season’s quiet—what do y’all go after instead? I’ve been chasing squirrels and rabbits lately, but curious what others are doing to stay sharp. #hunting #offseasonhunting #wildgame #smallgamehunting2415Share
lolson+FollowOff-season rabbit hunting keeps me sharp 🐰Been hitting the rabbit woods during deer off-season and loving it! These little speedsters are way trickier than people think. A few things have helped me: - Focus on early morning and late evening hunts during summer heat - avoid midday when it's too hot - Target thick cover like brush piles, overgrown fence rows, and shaded field edges where they escape the heat - Use the zig-zag walking pattern to kick them up from cover - Keep your shotgun ready at port arms - once they bolt, you've got maybe 2 seconds to shoot! The fast shooting really helps with my reaction time for other game. Anyone else use rabbit hunting for off-season practice? #hunting #RabbitHunting #OffSeasonHunting #SmallGameHunting1924Share
mmoore+FollowBest rabbit hunting dogs beyond beagles 🐕🐇Love my beagle, but I’ve been curious about what other breeds folks use for rabbit hunting. Did a little digging and tried a few—here’s what’s stood out so far: 1️⃣ Basset Hounds – low and slow, but their noses are unreal 2️⃣ Harriers – like a beagle but bigger and built for longer runs 3️⃣ Labs – smart, agile, and surprisingly good at flushing rabbits 4️⃣ Weimaraners – great in open terrain, fast and focused Anyone out there hunting rabbits with a different breed? Let’s hear it. #hunting #rabbithunting #huntingdogs #smallgamehunting418Share
tyler79+FollowDon’t hunt birds with a crossbow 🏹🚫Honestly wouldn't recommend a crossbow for small game or birds - you'll be breaking bolts left and right and it's overkill. BB gun or pellet rifle is way more practical and cheaper to shoot. Also check your local laws first! Some places have restrictions on crossbow hunting depending on season and game type. #hunting #pelletgun #SmallGameHunting #HuntingTips #HuntingGear101Share
