WELCOME MASHA✨🐾 Masha is a 1 year Pekingese Maltese mix who weighs 11 Ibs. She's an energetic, curious puppy with an infectious personality that loves to play with her toys, wrestle with her foster dog sibling, snuggle, and play fetch. We call her a "real life muppet." Masha's great with kids 6 and older and with other dogs. She loves to explore on walks, sleeps very well through the night, is incredibly treat/food-motivated, and is now almost fully potty-trained using our doggy-door. She will love you unconditionally and wants nothing more than to be your little sidekick. She will also do great in a home with another furry buddy. She was just three months old — weak, frightened, and utterly alone. For three days, the tiny elephant calf wandered through the wild, searching for a herd that would never return. Hungry and exhausted, she was near collapse when villagers spotted her and called for help. Within hours, rangers, veterinarians, and rescue pilots rushed to her aid. When they found her, she was barely breathing — her body dehydrated, her eyes dull with pain. Fresh milk was airlifted in, fluids were given, and slowly, miraculously, her breathing steadied. Every small sign — a flick of her trunk, a twitch of her ear — became a moment of celebration. They named her Maputo, after the land that nearly took her but now had given her a second chance. Soon, she’ll be transferred to a care facility in South Africa, where she’ll grow strong enough to return to the wild. Her rescue was more than the saving of one life — it was proof that compassion still crosses borders, and that even in the harshest corners of nature, humanity can still choose to protect, not destroy. #animals #elephant #elephantlove #rescue #humanity #kindness #kindnessmatters #wildlife #wildlifeconservation #storytime #wholesome

They found him standing beside his mother’s body — a tiny calf trembling in the dust, crying for someone who would never wake again. The herd had already moved on, and he was too young, too weak, too heartbroken to follow. His cries grew softer, his legs gave out, and when rangers finally reached him, he collapsed in fear. They wrapped him in blankets, held him through the shaking, and rushed him to the sanctuary — fighting the grief that can kill a baby elephant as quickly as hunger. At first, he refused milk and kept searching the doorway for his mother. Caregivers sat beside him all night, comforting him until he finally reached out with his small trunk… and drank. That was the moment he chose to live. Within days he could stand. Within a week he was welcomed by the other orphans, their trunks touching his face in gentle greeting. He lost everything — but he gained a new herd, a new family, a second chance. #animals #elephant #elephantlove #rescue #elephantsanctuary #saveanimals #wildlife
