Reasonable rejection of section8 tenants?

We're in a bit of a bind with our rental property. Our agent found a Section 8 tenant, a woman with three young kids, but we're hesitant to proceed. We've heard rejecting could lead to legal issues, and now we have two more applications. Can we choose another applicant without legal trouble?
