Community Coalition of Myrtle Landing+FollowYou Don’t Owe Strangers an Explanation Some people believe they’re entitled to explanations about your choices—why you did something, why you didn’t, why you said no. They’re not. A stranger is not your supervisor, your partner, or someone you’ve entered into an agreement with. A random person demanding justification for your decisions is simply confusing curiosity with entitlement. You’re allowed to say no. You’re allowed to decline. You’re allowed to change your plans. And you’re allowed to do all of that without providing a detailed explanation to someone who has no standing in your life. When someone is respectful and part of your life, sharing context can be healthy communication. But when someone approaches you with attitude or entitlement, explanations usually don’t solve anything. More often, they just invite more criticism, more debate, and more attempts to control your decision. A boundary doesn’t require a courtroom defense. “No” is a complete sentence. “That doesn’t work for me” is enough. People who respect boundaries don’t demand explanations. People who demand explanations usually don’t respect boundaries. Sometimes the most self-respecting thing you can do is make your decision and move on. No debate. No defense. No permission required. #boundaries #SelfLove #people #relationship #expectations #entitlement #no00Share
caitlinbrown+FollowThe Husband Who "Doesn't Live Here"Maria’s SNAP application lists her as a single mother with zero income. She receives the maximum benefit amount each month. But every evening at 6 PM, a Ford F-150 pulls into her driveway. Her partner, a construction worker earning a decent wage, lives there full-time. But on paper? He’s a ghost. When the caseworker schedules a visit, his work boots and razor disappear from the bathroom. They split bills with his cash and buy lobster with her EBT. Her neighbor, a single mom who works two jobs and barely misses the cutoff for aid, watches from the window, wondering if honesty is really the best policy. #Relationship #Inequality #WelfareQueen #Truth #Community21Share
