why did my dog refuse food after puppies arrived?
After my dog had her puppies, I noticed she wouldn’t leave their side, not even for food. I brought her favorite snacks right next to her, but she just stared at them. I started to worry, but then I realized she needed time to rest after giving birth. A few hours later, she finally nibbled on some food, especially when I added a bit of warm chicken broth.
I switched her to puppy food, which is packed with nutrients, and made sure she always had fresh water nearby. She started eating more, but only in small amounts at a time. I learned to feed her several small meals throughout the day. I kept an eye on her weight, making sure she wasn’t losing too much. Feeding a new mom is all about patience, tasty food, and lots of water!
