Garden State News Network+Follow❄️ North Jersey Gears Up for Weekend Snowstorm ❄️ Communities across New Jersey are getting ready as a significant winter storm targets the region this weekend. In Fairfield Township, crews are already prepared, with 19 snowplows set to hit the roads early Sunday. Local Emergency Management officials say rock salt supplies are fully stocked and ready to go. 🧂🚜 Town leaders are also sharing important reminders for residents ahead of the storm: 🚫 Street parking will be prohibited starting 7 PM Saturday through 7 PM Monday 🗑️ Garbage pickup is delayed from Monday to Tuesday 🏡 Residents are encouraged to keep shoveled snow on their own property—not in the roadways 🚒 Please help first responders by clearing snow away from fire hydrants Officials warn this storm may be especially challenging due to its length. 🗣️ “When a snowstorm lasts close to 36 hours, it makes it more difficult to manage staffing, rest periods, and shift coverage,” said R.J. Casendino of the Fairfield Police Department. To prepare, additional DPW crews and police officers will be brought in starting Sunday morning to assist with storm operations. Jersey Talks+Follow🚨 Meteorologists warn a “once-in-a-lifetime” winter storm could impact over half the U.S. this weekend. ❄️🥶 Fueled by a destabilized polar vortex, the massive system is expected to bring brutal cold, heavy snow, and dangerous ice from the Southern Plains all the way to the East Coast. ⚠️ This is not a routine winter storm. Experts say ice accumulation alone could cause catastrophic infrastructure damage, with the potential to knock out power in some regions for weeks, not days. State agencies are urging residents to finish preparations NOW, warning that travel may become impossible once conditions worsen. If you’re in the storm’s path, officials recommend stocking up on food, water, and safe heating options immediately, as emergency responders may not be able to reach affected areas at the height of the storm. 📍These inches are coming this weekend… are you ready? 👀❄️😏 #njweather #njwinterstorm11910Share
