Scored a gem on a rainy day Yelp search -Middle Eastern Box lunches
Based in East Bay Berkeley! Yelp food hunting in the rain led me to a Middle Eastern supermarket right at home with a web rating of 4.7! Though a general supermarket, most reviews compliment their pre-made box lunches and Turkish desserts! Being very hungry, I immediately placed an order:
Price: Box lunches (Beef, Lamb, or Roast Chicken) each cost $16.99/box; Meat roll is $13.99 each!
Portions: Massive! I had the beef box lunch (pic 1), and was full after just one strip of meat and half a portion of rice! My teammate's chicken box lunch (pic 2) had even more meat than rice! As for the chicken roll our Middle Eastern friend ordered (pics 3/4), it was a long, heavy strip!
Taste: The meat was a tad dry, but pairing it with raw onions and roasted tomatoes moistened up the taste, although the aftertaste was a bit heavy! Plus the Middle Eastern rice was very aromatic!
Conclusion: Considering all aspects, you get great quality for what you pay. It's perfect for a work meal! Pics 5/6 show a web image of their Turkish desserts, very tempting! Looks like a personal visit is needed once the weather clears up!
