is keeping cats inside really ruining their lives?

My dad swears my cats would be happier if they roamed outside, but I just can’t agree. I’ve always kept my cats indoors. They’re safe from cars, wild animals, and all the weird stuff that can happen outside. Plus, they have tons of toys, window perches, and even a cat tree to climb. People have told me before that indoor cats are bored or sad, but mine seem pretty chill. I play with them every day and make sure they get lots of attention. I’ve read up on cat care, and most vets say indoor cats live longer and healthier lives. Anyone else get this kind of pushback?
