lolson+FollowDo this in June for a better fall hunt! 🦌📷I know it’s summer, but for those of us living that year-round hunter life—you know it's trail cam time. 🦌 June’s when I start scouting with cameras. Bucks are in velvet, feeding hard, and patterns are just starting to show. Here’s what works for me: 1️⃣ Mount cams 3–5 ft high and angle them at 45° to the trail 2️⃣ Never face them east or west—sun triggers are no joke 3️⃣ Use solar + cell cams if you can, way less disturbance 4️⃣ Check only every few weeks to avoid spooking the herd Already spotted a few does on my cams this week—hoping to catch my target buck from last season soon. Anyone else setting cams already? What’s your summer setup look like? #hunting #offseasonhunting #trailcameratips #deerhuntingprep40Share
Manuel Bright+FollowHow y'all hunting in this brutal heat? 🥵🦟I don’t know how some of y’all do it… August hunting feels like punishment. Between the heat, skeeters, and snakes, I usually hold off ‘til September. My heat survival kit: portable fan, thermacell, and snake boots. But honestly? I'm not as crazy about hunting as I used to be when it comes to dealing with this humidity. What's your secret to summer hunting? Or do you wait it out like me? #hunting #summerhunting #huntingseason #hotweatherhunting20Share
Manuel Bright+Follow53 Days 'til SC Deer Season! 🏹🦌Only 53 days to go and I’m already fired up! Food plots are coming in strong, bow’s dialed, Thermacells are ready, and the mosquito suit’s packed. Lock-ons are solid—just need to trim up those shooting lanes. Anyone else counting down to South Carolina opener?🏹 #hunting #SCDeerSeason #CountdownOn #BowhuntingLife #ReadyToHunt110Share
Eric Ford+FollowWhy hunters rock full camo? 🍃🏹From what I've observed, most hunters wear head-to-toe camouflage. Is it purely for concealment or are there other reasons? #hunting #outdoorlife #camouflage #wildlifephotography20Share
Manuel Bright+Follow5 Game-Changing Tips to Stay Hidden from WaterfowlJust had my best duck season yet thanks to these concealment secrets from Ducks Unlimited biologist John Coluccy! Waterfowl have vision 2-3x better than humans and can see colors we can't even imagine - here's how to outsmart them: 1️⃣Cover those faces and hands! Your exposed skin is like a flashlight to ducks. Face masks and gloves are non-negotiable, especially when you're moving in the blind. 2️⃣Match your surroundings perfectly. I've learned the hard way that dark brown camo in light cover makes you stick out like a sore thumb. On overcast days, this becomes even more critical. 3️⃣Use shadows strategically. Natural shadows are your best friend, but that layout blind shadow? Total giveaway. Try digging a shallow depression or using elevated decoys to break up your outline. 4️⃣Stay still even when birds are leaving. With eyes on the sides of their heads, ducks can see almost 360 degrees. Don't get caught moving when you think they're gone! 5️⃣Create distractions. Motion decoys and strategic blind placement can keep their attention off you and on your spread. #waterfowlhunting #duckhunting #huntingtips #hunting 10Share
paulcarol+FollowWhy I'm ditching OnX for hunting 🗺️Absolutely hate using OnX! Clunky interface, slow loading, and my downloaded maps only work half the time. So unreliable when you actually need it in the field. What hunting apps do you guys actually recommend?📍 #hunting #OnXHunt #HuntingApps #HuntingTech1925Share
tyler79+FollowDon’t hunt birds with a crossbow 🏹🚫Honestly wouldn't recommend a crossbow for small game or birds - you'll be breaking bolts left and right and it's overkill. BB gun or pellet rifle is way more practical and cheaper to shoot. Also check your local laws first! Some places have restrictions on crossbow hunting depending on season and game type. #hunting #pelletgun #SmallGameHunting #HuntingTips #HuntingGear101Share
Manuel Bright+FollowWhere Do Hogs Hide After Dark? 🌒Pigs LOVE hanging around dams at night! Even dried creek beds work - they sleep in that cool sand all day. My best success comes from scouting tracks and rooting signs first, then checking crop fields (wheat, canola, soy) and fence lines on farm land. Pro tip: they rarely venture far from water sources! Where do you find success? #hunting #hoghunting #nighthunting #hogwild ##huntingtips #fieldtofork246Share
tyler79+FollowAnyone tried camping in hunter management areas?Been looking at some HMA maps and wondering if anyone's tried camping inside these areas during hunting season. Seems like it could be a game changer for access, but not sure about the rules. Any experience with overnight stays in HMAs? #hunting #Outdoors #HMA #HuntingLands1015Share
mmoore+FollowBest rabbit hunting dogs beyond beagles 🐕🐇Love my beagle, but I’ve been curious about what other breeds folks use for rabbit hunting. Did a little digging and tried a few—here’s what’s stood out so far: 1️⃣ Basset Hounds – low and slow, but their noses are unreal 2️⃣ Harriers – like a beagle but bigger and built for longer runs 3️⃣ Labs – smart, agile, and surprisingly good at flushing rabbits 4️⃣ Weimaraners – great in open terrain, fast and focused Anyone out there hunting rabbits with a different breed? Let’s hear it. #hunting #rabbithunting #huntingdogs #smallgamehunting418Share
