Only 6 Guests Every Night 🍣 Is it good for $200?

🍣 KEN 📍 252 Divisadero St, San Francisco, CA 94117 · ▫️ It's not open for dine-in for long, so make sure to come and try it. Many years ago, this location was another sushi restaurant called ijji, which I also really liked, but unfortunately it closed. Now the place has the exact same interior, giving me a sense of nostalgia. · ▫️ The head chef came from kusakabe and has previously worked in various well-known sushi restaurants. Right before the pandemic, he took over this place and opened his own sushi restaurant. When dine-in was not allowed, they offered takeout (which they still do). Now dine-in is available, but it's usually just one round of guests each night, with only 6 seats, so reservations are not easy to make. · ▫️ The menu for the evening is $175 per person, and it's quite filling. It includes four types of sashimi, 8 pieces of nigiri, ankimo rice bowl, a hand roll, and a bowl of steamed rice. The side dishes and steamed dishes in between are all quite good, with fresh flavors. The chef has great skill in marinating different types of fish and knows how to handle the different textures. The taste tends to maintain the original flavors without excessive seasoning. · ▫️ Due to the small number of guests, the chef takes great care of each customer. It's like having a large chat session. The customers at our neighboring table that night were also food enthusiasts, and we recommended many restaurants to each other. Besides food, there was also information exchange, which was a delightful experience. #BayAreaWeekend #BayAreaLife #LifeDuringPandemic #BayAreaFood #JapaneseCuisine #ExploringJapaneseFood #HiddenGem #FoodExploration

Star of the Sea Church

This place is a small, neat hidden gem in the area, offering one of the few Latin Masses around! What primarily draws me to it is its fresh and elegant Greek Mediterranean architectural style. The main body of the church is in stark white, complemented by blue lines and decorations, truly showcasing the beauty of blue-and-white combination! I wonder if one could book this place for a wedding ceremony, it'd definitely make for a lifetime of beautiful memories. Cost: Free to visit, coin metered street parking! Open: Everyday from 6:00am-5:30pm! ⚠️ This is a place of religious faith, please maintain silence when taking photos and touring. 🚩Star of the Sea Church 4420 Geary Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94118 #StarOfTheSeaChurch #HiddenGem #GreekMediterraneanArchitecture #LatinMass #WeddingVenue #SanFrancisco #ReligiousFaith #BeautifulMemories

San Francisco Travel Diary•Hidden Gem The Wave Organ

Top underrated treasure spot recommendation in San Fran: The Wave Organ! Few people, breathtaking views, and even photography beginners can snap amazing shots! Origin of the spot: Designed by artists in 1986, it's made up of winding cement pipes leading down to the seabed, as seen in pics 4/5. Lean in close and you can hear the beautiful natural melody of the waves - they say it's most audible during the full moon! Its geographic location is "tricky" - it is right next to the Golden Gate Yacht Club. Don't be deterred by the sign stating "Members Only" at the entrance, it's open to everyone and you can bring your dogs too! Other features: * A lighthouse, pic 6, built from rocks, has a strong classical vibe! * Beach area, pic 8, where the entrance of the harbor is there's a little sandy beach where you can play in the sand with kids, swim with dogs, and watch as yachts glide past you. In summary, it's a must-visit site! Not only can you gaze at Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz (Devil's Island), but you can also stop by nearby attractions, such as the Palace of Fine Arts, Fort Mason Center, and the expensive Presidio neighborhood. It's ideal for station-hopping [ShyR]! 🚩The Wave Organ 83 Marina Green Dr, San Francisco, CA 94123 #SanFranciscoTravel #HiddenGem #TheWaveOrgan #UnderratedTreasure #PhotographySpot #FullMoonMelody #GoldenGateYachtClub #MustVisit

This hidden gem offers a unique twist on sukiyaki with a fluffy marshmallow surprise. Here's what you can expect: **Cute and Cozy** - Shabusen Restaurant, known for its monthly sukiyaki feasts, has reopened in an omakase style. - The star of the show? Fluffy marshmallow clouds that add a touch of whimsy to this traditional dish. **Quality and Variety** - Enjoy high-quality meats, with the option to upgrade to premium wagyu beef for an extra fee. - The marshmallows may look sweet, but they provide a subtle hint of sweetness without overpowering the dish. - The service is top-notch, and the bright and clean ambience makes it perfect for a small get-together. **Minor Drawbacks** - Some customers find the sukiyaki broth to be a bit on the salty side. - Instead of traditional dipping sauces, Shabusen uses onsen egg, which may not be everyone's preference. Amakara • Hidden Gem Sushi Bar with Generous Portions and Quality

On Mother's Day 2023, we didn't reserve a place in advance to celebrate. I happened to find Amakara Sushi Bar in Dublin, which had good reviews online, so the whole family decided to give it a try! What's unique about this place: it's a Sushi+Sport Bar. With numerous large TVs broadcasting live sports games and a more varied menu of snacks and drinks than typical sushi places. Here’s a brief rundown of our dining experience: Appetizers we ordered: *Grilled Edamame, $9.5! The staff highly recommended the grilled version saying it's tastier than the steamed one, and it really was, saltier and more savory! *Agedashi Tofu, $7.5! The tofu coating was a bit thick, resulting in a slightly hard deep-fried skin, but it was okay! *Mixed Tempura, $17.5! They served us the entree version by mistake, so it came with rice. The normal appetizer is only the fried items, including shrimp, squid, sweet potato, pumpkin, cauliflower, and onion—all large and fresh, and the tempura was tender, overall good! For the delicious rice bowls, we ordered: *Beef Tomato Curry w/Chicken Katsu, $24! This curry rice I personally found really tasty. The curry was rich and plentiful, it was not salty or spicy but on the sweeter and mildly sour side. Paired with sticky sushi rice, tender chicken cutlet, and thinly sliced beef, this was my favorite of the day! *Salmon Teriyaki w/Salad, $29! The rice bowl was so large you couldn't finish it! Two chunks of salmon with thick meat and crispy skin, and the accompanying rice was enough for two meals! Plus, you can choose a side with the rice bowl, either salad or miso soup! As for the sushi, we ordered: *Lion King, $21! *Shrimp Mango, $21! *Spicy Crunchy Rainbow, $23! I'm not a big sushi roll fan, so I can't provide detailed reviews, but I could feel the restaurant's sincere effort. Despite providing generous servings of rice with their other dishes, the layer of rice in the sushi roll was thin which allowed for more filling, and it was fresh! #Amakara #HiddenGem #SushiBar #GenerousPortions #Quality #SushiPlusSportBar #GrilledEdamame #AgedashiTofu #MixedTempura #BeefTomatoCurry #SalmonTeriyaki #LionKing #ShrimpMango #SpicyCrunchyRainbow

Bay Area Cuisine | Noren Izakaya: A Cozy Japanese-Style Yakitori Restaurant in San Francisco

Noren Izakaya is a hidden gem where you can gather with friends and enjoy an authentic Japanese atmosphere. The hand-drawn menu is charming, featuring illustrated chicken skewers and various dishes that pique my interest. Compared to other izakayas, the menu here is not extensive, but the quality is good. I highly recommend the Spicy Kimchi Stir-Fried Pork, as the tangy kimchi complements the skewers well. The Grilled Chicken Skin is incredibly crispy and the crispiest I've ever had. The Sashimi is optional and nothing to write home about. As for the Yakitori skewers: - Almost all of them are delicious, especially the ones with organ meats. - The grilled mushrooms are flavorful and tasty. - The grilled scallops are a must-try, they are huge! - I had high expectations for the Bacon-wrapped Mochi, but it turned out to be way too salty. - The Beef Tongue is fantastic! It has a tender and crispy texture. - Even the simplest Chicken Wings are incredibly delicious! Overall, this place is perfect for a casual gathering with friends, with its authentic Japanese style and attention to detail that captures the essence of Japanese culture. The bar area itself exudes the same charm. #BayAreaLife #WeekendInBayArea #GlobalFoodies #Yakitori #BayAreaCuisine #SiliconValleyFood #FoodieLife #ProductRecommendation #JapaneseGrilledBird #JapaneseIzakaya #MustVisitYakitoriRestaurant #HiddenGem
