The Cliché of Office Romances​

Office romances are often cliché and predictable. They usually start the same two ways: The female lead (FL) is deceived, while the extremely rich and charming young CEO has secretly loved her but never told her. The male lead (ML) is a total jerk to everyone, then falls for the FL and continues to treat everyone except her like dirt. The power dynamics are also off. The ML almost always holds more power than the FL. This shouldn’t be romanticized—it’s unethical. Why do these stories keep repeating? It’s boring and uninspired.
