Am I Missing Something, or Does This ‘After’ Photo Look Worse? 😳

So, I saw this girl who got a gift card for Ulta. She was browsing their Vitamin C products and came across the RoC Vitamin C Brightening Serum. It’s got a 4.7-star rating with over 900 reviews, which sounds amazing. But then she saw the before-and-after photo… In the “before” pic, there are some dark spots and fine lines, but the “after 4 weeks” photo looks worse to her. How is this supposed to show improvement??? Both she and the commenters seem baffled.
