The Road to Ha Giang Broke Me Open

No one warns you about the drive. Six hours of switchbacks, buses that feel like they might tip into the mist, and a kind of tired that makes your bones ache. I thought I’d just zone out and arrive somewhere beautiful, but the truth is, you arrive changed. Somewhere between the third roadside stall and the fifth hour of silence, I realized I wasn’t escaping anything. The mountains don’t care if you’re running from a breakup or just bored of your own city. They just wait, silent and impossible, until you’re ready to see them for what they are: harsh, real, and worth every minute of the ride. I still think about that drive when I’m stuck in traffic at home. Sometimes, discomfort is the only way through. #Travel #TravelUnfiltered #LongRoads

Why I Can’t Look at Seville Cathedral the Same Way

They’re cleaning Seville Cathedral right now. I walked past the scaffolding, expecting disappointment—another landmark wrapped up, another photo ruined. But the stone was half-scrubbed, half-soot, like someone had erased centuries of stories from one side and left the rest to rot. I stood there longer than I meant to, watching workers chip away at the grime. The clean part almost glowed, so bright it looked fake. The dirty half felt honest—tired, worn, real. I took a photo but never posted it. I keep thinking about how we only show the polished sides of things, and how strange it is to see a city’s face mid-scrub, not quite old, not quite new. Maybe that’s the most honest version of any place—or any of us. #Travel #TravelUnfiltered #RealSpain
