Chasing Peaks, Missing the Point
Thirteen hours. Ten peaks. Somewhere outside Tokyo, my legs stopped hurting and my brain just... emptied. I kept waiting for the summit high, the big moment where everything clicks and you feel like you’ve done something huge. Instead, it was just me, counting steps, watching the city fade and come back again.
No one tells you that sometimes, the more you push, the less you feel. I thought stacking summits would fill something up. Instead, I just ended up with a phone full of mountain photos I haven’t shown anyone, and a quiet ache I can’t name. Maybe next time, I’ll stop at one peak. Maybe that’s enough.
