Authorities say Brenda was kayaking with her foster parents when high water and dangerous currents threw the group into the river. (WSYX) ⚠️ According to rescuers: 👉 the family became trapped on a log jam 👉 Brenda was pinned underwater by the current 👉 she remained submerged for approximately seven minutes 👉 rescuers battled rushing water and debris to reach her 👉 she was wearing a life jacket at the time (WSYX) 💔 Despite rescue efforts and CPR at the scene, Brenda was later pronounced dead at Licking Memorial Hospital. 🚨💔 MIRACLE SURVIVOR — 5-YEAR-OLD FOUND ALIVE AFTER SPENDING 30+ HOURS TRAPPED IN WRECK WITH HER DEAD PARENTS 💔🚨 A heartbreaking tragedy out of Colorado has left a little girl alive against unbelievable odds. Authorities say 5-year-old Kayce Griffin survived more than 30 hours trapped inside an overturned pickup truck after a crash killed both of her parents near Highway 160 outside Bayfield. The wreckage remained hidden from passing drivers for over a day before troopers discovered it. Inside the truck, first responders found Kayce alive beside her parents, 25-year-old Devante Griffin and 24-year-old Klariza Tarango, who both died at the scene. Despite everything, the little girl reportedly climbed a hill toward rescuers when help finally arrived. She survived with only minor injuries and has since been released into the care of her grandfather.
