As a Waitress, Tips Are Shrinking—and So Is My Sense of Securit

I work as a waitress in Denver. I used to make $65–$80 in lunch-shift tips. One day recently, I made only $38. Customers say, “Sorry, I’m saving money too.” I get it, but I still have rent, insurance, and a kid who needs new shoes. During the shutdown, my biggest fear was the economy taking another hit and customer traffic dropping even more.
