As a logistics guy, the dedication of Solomon’s temple literally breaks my brain 🤯

I've always had a mind for numbers and logistics. So when I was reading 1 Kings 8 today about Solomon dedicating the temple, I actually stopped and did the math. It says they sacrificed 22,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep. Guys. That is not a clean, quiet religious ceremony. To do that in two weeks, priests would have had to slaughter a massive animal every few seconds, around the clock. The sound would have been deafening. The smell of smoke and copper would have covered the entire city. The courtyard would have literally been ankle-deep in a flowing river of blood. We treat the Old Testament like a neat, sterile museum. But the reality of what it cost to approach a Holy God before Jesus came was violently messy and staggeringly massive.
