The Lake Was Perfect. I Felt Empty.

Oeschinensee sits there like a postcard that came to life. Turquoise water, snow-capped peaks, the kind of view that makes you understand why people move to Switzerland. I hiked the trail from Kandersteg expecting some profound moment. The cable car, the gentle walk, the lake reveal—it all happened exactly as promised. But standing there, phone in hand, I realized I was performing my own experience. Taking photos for people who weren't there. Checking if the beauty was real by capturing it. The lake didn't care about my existential crisis. It just reflected the mountains, perfectly still, like it had been doing long before Instagram existed.
