The debate that many are engaging in about the those who receive assistance is heartbreaking. Many of you show such a lack of concern for others, that I’ve had to question whether I am STILL in the United States. Why is empathy such a horrible concept? When did charity, compassion, and consideration become such foreign concepts? It seems that this country is full of narcissistic selfish people who would rather see others miserable than to allow them a helping hand! I have NEEDED benefits in my life time and I am not ashamed to admit it. I also WORKED from the age of 15 until I had to go on disability. I PAID into the system that I needed to support me during that time and I make no apologies for receiving OR buying the food that I wanted. Now, 12 years later, I am the one who approves or denies benefits for people who apply. What many of don’t recognize is that for most of these individuals it is EMBARRASSING to have to ask for help. The stereotype that says recipients are lazy, immature, or abusing the system doesn’t fit everyone. Yes, there are some that the stereotype may fit but there are more who don’t fit into that box. The new restrictions that have taken place this month…SMH, not even adding the shutdown to the mix, will be absolutely DEVASTATING to so many American homes. There will be MILLIONS of people who have paid into a system that now says it won’t help them. Veterans, elderly, those who have been displaced, families that can’t afford childcare AND pay bills, the homeless and so many others no longer qualify. You say, “They should get a job!” Many of them have two or even THREE jobs but their wages don’t match the cost of living. That cost will skyrocket next year when insurance subsidies end. I refuse to believe that this country has lost it’s way so badly! That the country that was KNOWN for its compassion and aid to those in need has now turned its back on its own. 😔 #SNAPBenefits #SNAPLife #SNAPTal

having grown up on food stamps I know that fatherless homes and women have been incentivized since 1964 to have as many children as possible each with a different father to maximize the amount they receive, in some cases, as much as $4,400 per month, which is more than a lot of people make at their workplace per month, and had they been responsible and bought and stockpiled rice, beans, and canned goods instead of junk food and frozen prepared food, there would be nothing to complain about, because they are just lazy and not willing to cook(heating up a frozen lasagna is not cooking). Also, many people do everything they can to not make more than the cutoff to continue receiving food stamps, often work cash jobs under the table without taxes to avoid detection, and even sell drugs or even their food stamps for money. I don't feel bad for most people not receiving SNAP because they have gamed the system, except for the elderly and truly disabled(not some blue-haired liberal communist that self-diagnosed 15 neurodivergent mental disordersto game the system because they can't find or hold down a job due to their poor lifestyle choices. Imagine a world where the same amount of effort went into working instead of gaming the system...but I dream. And, we have Democrats in Congress who have voted 14 times now to keep the government closed because they are throwing a tantrum to get free healthcare for illegal immigrants and holding America hostage because they allowed an invasion of millions of illegals, gave them food stamps, free healthcare, section 8 housing, and taniff to have them vote Democrat by not enforcing Federal voter ID and registration laws and then say those laws are "racist"...the gig is up. #SNAPBenefits #SNAPLife #SNAPTalk
