DigitalDaydreamer+FollowFrom Back Roads to Highways: Facing My Driving FearsI drive daily—about 30 minutes each way—on winding back roads that would make most people nervous. Sharp turns, no guardrails, and big rigs blocking the way are my norm. But when I hit a new, technically easier road, I freeze up. My mind blanks at four-way stops, and I panic if someone’s behind me. I know I’ve been lucky so far, but with a move coming up, I’ll have to start using the highway. What helped me was practicing short stretches of highway driving during off-peak hours and reminding myself to breathe. It’s okay to feel nervous—just take it one mile at a time.
