From Back Roads to Highways: Facing My Driving Fears

I drive daily—about 30 minutes each way—on winding back roads that would make most people nervous. Sharp turns, no guardrails, and big rigs blocking the way are my norm. But when I hit a new, technically easier road, I freeze up. My mind blanks at four-way stops, and I panic if someone’s behind me. I know I’ve been lucky so far, but with a move coming up, I’ll have to start using the highway. What helped me was practicing short stretches of highway driving during off-peak hours and reminding myself to breathe. It’s okay to feel nervous—just take it one mile at a time. Anyone else have tips for tackling new routes? Share your thoughts below! #DrivingAnxiety #RealLifeChallenges #PersonalGrowth #Cars
