The Silence After the Hike Wasn't Peaceful
I stood above Dukkinskie lakes, Arkhyz, Russia, expecting awe. The kind of view you’re supposed to remember forever. Instead, I felt nothing. Not joy, not relief—just a weird, hollow quiet. Maybe it was the altitude, or maybe it was knowing I’d chased this moment for weeks, only to find out it didn’t fix anything.
Everyone says nature heals. But sometimes, you’re just alone with your thoughts, and the silence is louder than the wind. I took a photo anyway. I haven’t posted it. Not sure I ever will.
