The Baby Must-Have Everyone Swore By—Did You Really Need It?

When I was expecting my first child, everyone insisted that a wipe warmer was an absolute must-have. Friends, family, even strangers at the store told me it would be a game-changer for diaper changes. I remember adding it to my registry, convinced it would make those late-night changes smoother. But once my baby arrived, I realized we barely used it! The wipes were just fine at room temperature, and it ended up collecting dust in the corner. It made me wonder how many other parents have been told they "need" something that turned out to be unnecessary. What was the one thing you were told you couldn’t live without for your baby? The Baby Must-Haves Everyone Swore By—Did You Really Need Them?

Before my baby arrived, everyone seemed to have a list of 'must-haves' I absolutely needed. From wipe warmers to fancy swings, the advice poured in. I remember feeling overwhelmed, convinced that if I didn’t have every single item, I’d be unprepared. But once my little one was here, I realized some of those essentials just collected dust, while the simplest things—like a cozy blanket and lots of love—mattered most. It’s funny how every family’s needs are different, and sometimes the best advice is to trust your own instincts. What’s the one thing people told you was a must-have for your baby? Crib Assembly Doesn’t Have to Break You!

Dragging a giant box into the nursery, I realized I had no clue how to put together a crib. 😅 My partner and I stared at the pieces, praying we wouldn’t end up with a wobbly baby trap. Here’s what actually helped us survive the process: 🔹 Bring ALL the parts to the baby’s room first—trust me, you don’t want to move a built crib through doorways. (Learned that the hard way...) 🔹 Double-check you’ve got every piece before starting. Missing screws = meltdown. I once spent 30 minutes looking for a bracket that was in my pocket. 🙈 🔹 Inspect for damage, especially if it’s secondhand. Splinters and peeling paint? Nope. Safety first, even if it means a last-minute Target run. 🔹 Read the instructions (even if you think you’re a pro). Skipping steps led to a backward headboard for us. Oops! 🔹 Use the right tools—don’t try to improvise with butter knives. My screwdriver became my new BFF. 🔹 Always shake-test the crib before putting the mattress in. If it wobbles, tighten everything again! Parent confession: I once put the mattress in upside down and wondered why it didn’t fit. 🤦‍♀️ What’s your funniest crib assembly fail? How do couples have more than 1 kid?

Lately, I've been wondering... how do people survive raising more than one child? My partner and I are navigating life with our 8-month-old, and we are exhausted down to our bones. Yesterday pushed us to our limits — our daughter battled a fever and cried non-stop for 24 hours, not just fussing but full-on terror. Both of us, working jobs (my partner freelances), ended the day completely shattered. That night, we cried too. I even had a panic attack. We dream of having more children someday, but honestly, right now it feels impossible.Maybe this is my desperate whisper into the void — does it really get easier? How do you survive, keep loving, and stay sane through it all?If you’ve walked this road, your words could mean the world. 🌿How did you find the strength during your hardest parenting moments?
