Armadillos are moving into Illinois!

Armadillos, once unheard of in Illinois, are now popping up across the southern part of the state. Warmer winters and changing landscapes have made Illinois surprisingly welcoming for these armored creatures, which originally hail from Central and South America. Their arrival is just one sign of how climate change is shaking up local wildlife. Some folks are excited to spot a new animal, but others worry about the impact on native species and the risk of diseases. Have you seen an armadillo around here?
