2024 Perfume Diary (a.k.a. me trying to “buy less”)

I told myself I’d buy less this year. I didn’t. I mean, I tried. I even switched to samples and decants toward the end of the year—something about hoping to travel more, not wanting to drag full bottles around. But if I love something? Yeah… I’ll probably cave and get the full size when the sample’s 1/3 gone. My perfume of the year: MDCI L’Amoureux. Soft, ink-toned, warm, familiar in a way I can’t explain. People keep complimenting it. Year-round wear, zero aggression. Just… gentle. Sample of the year (tie): — Yalann’s Wild Garlic: a bit green, a touch soapy, oddly expensive. I feel a little scammed but also adored. — Byredo Blanche: people say Clean is cheaper and better, but I smelled it in-store and something clicked. It’s fresh. Half gone already. Worth it. Biggest heartbreak: Zegna Iris. I found it. Loved it. Realized it was discontinued. Resellers want a fortune, so I settled for a decant. If you know a soft, non-powdery iris with zero dirt vibes—please recommend. I’m mourning. #beauty #fragrance #realreview

Nasomatto: My Biased Favorites

No matter how many obscure new niche brands I sniff, Nasomatto still feels like my first perfume crush—chaotic, creative, unhinged in the best way. This round, I’m sharing my totally subjective takes on a few less-talked-about gems👇 Fantomass Starts all sweet like melon candy. Wait five minutes—suddenly it smells like a stranger’s skin. Not yours. Not your lover’s. A stranger. Creepy? Yes. Addictive? Also yes. Silver Musk Soft. Cold. Clean. A hint of metal. Like powdered snow on skin. Basically, if you want to smell like a gentle ice ghost, this is it. Baraonda Whiskey in a poem. Woody, boozy, but not drunk. Just buzzed. Skips the alcohol burn, keeps the beauty. Smooth like a last sip before closing time. Absinthe Same alcohol theme, totally different vibe. Bitter, sharp, green. Less party, more “contemplating life in a cold forest.” Feels like it should sting a bit—and it does. Nudiflorum Wild. Soft. Dirty. It’s flowers, but with body heat and animal fur. No sugary intro, just straight into intimate territory. Unapologetically primal. P.S. Still got Blamage, Duro, Black Afgano, Pardon to go—next round’s gonna be even weirder. Stay tuned. #beauty #fragrance #nicheobsession

Blind Buying from L’Artisan Was the Best Mistake I Made

Apparently, I blind-bought all four of my L’Artisan bottles. Not on purpose. But no regrets. Here’s the breakdown: 1. Mémoire de Roses EDP Wanted a rose perfume, did way too much research. Passed on Byredo and Penhaligon’s. Ended up with this one—and thank God I did. First spritz smells like citrus air freshener, but give it 10 mins and it’s the most radiant, syrupy rose I’ve tried. Better value than Penhaligon’s Foxy Rose, tbh. 2. Mûre et Musc Extrême Also blind. Also perfect. Blueberry Halls candy turned into blackberry jam with minty breath. Addictively clean and not too sweet. Smelled the tester strip all night like a weirdo. 3. Passage d’Enfer EDT Tried it at the store once and forgot what it smelled like. So it counts as blind. First note? Slight chicken poop. I weirdly love it. It reminds me of New Year’s at my grandma’s village: incense, smoke, cold air, and wood fire. Dries down to soft floral incense and soap. No “coffin” vibes like reviews said. Just peace. 4. Tenebrae (Noir Collection) Bought it because I love occult stuff and the bottle looked magical. Eucalyptus hits you first—like fancy Tiger Balm—but it fades into a dewy rose-cedar combo. Feels like spa water for your soul. If this was diffusing at a massage place I’d sign a membership. #beauty #fragrance #blindbuyblessings
