The Amazing Culinary Adventure on Highway One: 💥Two Restaurants that Will Dazzle Your Taste Buds!

This weekend's short trip led me to discover two amazing culinary treasures on Highway One, satisfying my taste buds perfectly! ❤️ 1. La Bicyclette Restaurant: Located at Dolores St & 7th Ave in Carmel-By-The-Sea, La Bicyclette Restaurant was a delight to visit. We walked in around 12 PM on Saturday and had to wait for about 45 minutes. We took a stroll around the area and came back for a delightful meal. Here's what we ordered: - Soup Du Jour: The carrot soup of the day was rich and creamy! 🥕 - Champignons: The mushroom and black truffle pizza was simply stunning. It changed my perspective on pizza, even though I'm not usually a big fan. The flavors lingered on my palate. 🍄 - Squid Ink Pasta: Delicately flavored with seafood and complemented by homemade chili oil, this pasta had a rich and satisfying texture. 🦑 - Salted Caramel Budino: This dessert was an exquisite combination of chocolate pudding, almonds, caramel, sea salt, and blueberry sauce. It was an unforgettable taste experience. 🫐 - We also took away a Salumi Pizza, which was delicious despite being a bit salty. 🍕 2. L'Escargot: A Delicate Culinary Journey in a French Restaurant Located at Mission St & 4th Ave, L'Escargot was a French restaurant where we made a reservation in advance. Although the place wasn't crowded, it served us the most delectable French cuisine we had on Highway One. Here's what we ordered: - Snails Two Ways: We chose the garlic butter snails, served with bread and crispy pastry. They were tender and flavorful. 🐌 - French Onion Gratinee: The classic French onion soup was rich and hearty. 🧅 - Beef Wellington and Scallops: The daily special recommended by the chef. The beef was ordinary, but the scallops were absolutely stunning. 🥩🐚 - Chocolate Brownie: The dessert was a bit too sweet for our taste, so we can't particularly recommend it. 🍫 This culinary journey brought me an unforgettable taste experience. If you're traveling on Highway One, make sure to visit these two restaurants! They are definitely worth exploring and indulging in! #CulinaryAdventure #HighwayOne #LaBicycletteRestaurant #LEscargot #FoodieLife #FoodieTravel #TasteBuds #DeliciousEats #MustVisit #FoodExperience

chasing the world’s best chocolate: where should i go next?

Last summer, I finally made it to Europe, and let me tell you, the chocolate there ruined me for life. I thought I knew what good chocolate tasted like—turns out, I had no idea. I spent half an hour wandering the cobblestone streets of Brussels just to find this tiny chocolate shop everyone raved about, and when I finally bit into their pralines, I swear I almost cried. Now, every time I pick up a chocolate bar back home, it just tastes flat and overly sweet. Why can’t we get that same rich, creamy flavor here? It’s honestly a little maddening. Now I find myself daydreaming about planning trips just to hunt down the best chocolate. My friends think I’m nuts for wanting to fly across the ocean for a snack, but honestly, life’s too short for bad chocolate. Has anyone else traveled somewhere that completely changed their mind about what chocolate could be? I’m torn between Switzerland, Belgium again, or maybe even somewhere unexpected like Mexico or Japan. I want that wow moment again—the kind where you wonder if you’ll ever be satisfied with anything else. Is it just me, or does chocolate taste way better when you’re somewhere new, surrounded by different sights and smells? I’m starting to think I’ll never be able to go back to the stuff at the grocery store without feeling a little cheated. #chocolatejourney #foodietravel #europeanchocolate #Travel

🍗✨ KFC Taste Test: Indonesia vs Japan

Spoiler: they’re NOT the same! Whether you’re a fried chicken connoisseur or just curious about fast food abroad, here’s what I noticed 👇 🇮🇩 KFC Indonesia ✅ Texture: Super crispy & crunchy — classic KFC style. Lots of flour = that satisfying crunch. ✅ Size: Big pieces with lots of coating. ✅ Original Flavor: Savory, salty, and still crispy. 🌶 Spicy Version: Hot enough to turn your face red 😳 🍚 Sides: Rice + potatoes (thank you!) 💸 Price: Rp 18,182 (~USD $1.15) ❤️ Verdict: Best value, best crunch, best spice. Winner winner, chicken dinner. 🇯🇵 KFC Japan 🍗 Texture: Soft & moist, not crispy. Coated in wet batter, more like karaage. 📏 Size: Smaller than Indonesia’s. 🍽 Original Flavor: Surprisingly salty, but not crispy at all. Might feel a little underwhelming if you’re used to Indo’s version. 🌶 Spicy Version: Very mild — even if you can’t handle spice, you’ll be fine. 🥔 Sides: Potatoes only. No rice 😢 💸 Price: ¥319 (~Rp 34,000 or USD $2.15) 🍔 BUT: The burger menu here is 🔥 — way better than Indo’s. 🏁 Final Thoughts KFC Indonesia wins for fried chicken: it’s crispier, spicier, and more satisfying. KFC Japan wins for burgers: better bread, better fillings, and that Japanese precision in every bite. 📝 Note: This post is just about food, nothing political. Let’s keep it chill and respectful, friends 💗 #KFCIndonesia #KFCJapan #FriedChickenLovers #FastFoodAbroad #FoodComparison #IndoVsJapan #CrispyChicken #SpicyChicken #FoodieTravel #XiaoHongShuEats #JapanEats #IndonesiaEats #TravelEats #KFCGlobal #BurgerVsChicken #TasteTest

where should i travel next in latin america?

Last summer, after searching for a breakfast spot in Oaxaca for nearly half an hour, we finally stumbled into a tiny café where the owner chatted with us in Spanish about her family’s mole recipe. That’s the kind of travel I love—real conversations, real food, and not feeling like just another tourist. But here’s the thing: after so many trips to Mexico (CDMX, Guadalajara, Playa del Carmen, even the tourist-packed Puerto Vallarta), I’m itching for somewhere new. I want that authentic vibe, not a place where I order in Spanish and get answered in English, or where every step on the beach means dodging someone selling souvenirs. I’ve been eyeing places like Guanajuato and Puebla in Mexico, but Guatemala’s Lago Atitlán and Antigua look beautiful too. I’m tempted by Colombia—Medellín especially. The food, the colors, the energy! But then I hear warnings about safety, or stories about casual racism, and I wonder if I’m being too cautious or not cautious enough. I’m 6’3” and not exactly blending in, and sometimes I travel with my best friend who’s a Black woman, so I want to make sure we both feel safe and welcome. Plus, I get anxious about being crammed into tiny vans for hours—my knees still remember that colectivo ride in Playa del Carmen! I love food (as long as it’s not seafood), casual hikes, museums, and meeting locals. But I don’t want to end up somewhere so touristy that my Spanish gets ignored, or so off-the-beaten-path that I’m constantly on edge. Has anyone found that sweet spot in Latin America? Maybe a city or town where the food is amazing, the views are stunning, and the locals actually want to chat? And if you’ve traveled as a tall gringo or with friends who stand out, did you feel comfortable? I’m open to anywhere from Honduras to Uruguay, as long as it feels genuine and safe. Sometimes I wonder if I’m overthinking it, but after a few awkward moments in crowded tourist traps, I’d rather be picky than regret it later. #latinamericatravel #foodietravel #authentictravel #Travel
