Petra Cafe: Garlic Fries & Greek Gyros are Fire!

Located in Orinda, continuing from my previous travel post, let me introduce you to the Greek joint, Petra Cafe! Even though this small town isn't overflowing with diverse dining options, this Greek fast food spot is genuinely good! It's situated at Theater Square, so locals and tourists alike can dash in. The prices are good, and the food is legit! I only tried two items, and I was hooked! Garlic Fries: Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, loaded with flavor, and infused with a hearty garlic sauce—a big box for just $5.5, such a steal! Gyros: Greek pita wraps! Gyro literally means "spin," referring here to rotisserie grilled meat (pictured in photo 3). Their rotisserie meat is a substantive mixture of beef and lamb. The cook cuts long strips of meat and wraps them in pita bread with lettuce, onions, and tomatoes—a refreshingly tasty combo! It contains lamb but you can't detect any gamey flavor. The owner highly recommends this signature dish at $10.99! Total for a meal: $5.5 (fries) + $10.99 (gyro) = $16.49. With a Sharetea spot across the street, you can add a $5.5 Peach Mojito to your meal, totaling at $21.99. In Rich-Town, that's how you feast freely and happily! 📍 Petra Cafe 2 Orinda Theatre Square, Orinda, CA 94563 #PetraCafe #GarlicFries #GreekGyros #OrindaEats #FoodieFind #GreekFood #AffordableEats #DeliciousCombo

Try my grandma's secret Chinese burger recipe

Just mastered the ULTIMATE authentic Chinese Rou Jia Mo (meat pocket bread)! This family recipe is GAME-CHANGING yet so simple. he moment you chop that pork belly with green peppers—pure aromatic magic! ✨ Perfectly spiced meat tucked into homemade flatbread creates the most soul-satisfying bite. --- 🥩 Meat: - Pork belly/five-spice (I usually throw in all the common ones, but I think fennel seeds and dried chili peppers are a must)/rock sugar/salt/soy sauce (good light soy sauce can also give it color, dark soy sauce is not necessary)/green bell peppers - Blanch the meat and skim off the foam. Soak the raw meat for 2+ hours, then just throw it in the rice cooker to stew. Once it's cooked, chop it up with the green peppers. 🫓 Pancakes: This is the ratio for six. - 400g flour/4g yeast/180g water/salt to taste - Add salt to the flour. Dissolve the yeast in the water, then pour it into the flour and mix well. - Knead into a dough and let it rise for about 40 minutes, or until the dough is about double in size. Knead it again. - Divide the dough into six portions, roll each into a strip, then shape them into pancakes. - Cook them in a skillet over low heat until both sides are done. 🌟 If you have leftovers, seal them and freeze them. Reheat in the oven when you're ready to eat. --- Recipe in comments! #ChineseCuisine #HomeCooking #Recipes #RouJiaMo #FoodieFind

Muracci's - A Little Japanese Curry Stall on the streets of Berkeley

Just discovered the old-school spot, Muracci's, close to Berkeley University. It's known for serving Japanese curry and it's highly recommended online. Here's what we ordered: *Grilled Salmon Curry priced at $15.50. It includes thin slices of grilled salmon over a bowl of rice, all smothered in a thick Japanese curry sauce. The serving is perfect for a Japanese style meal. The curry has just the right balance of sweet and sour taste, which I adore. Compared to Thai and Indian curries, Japanese curry uses quite a bit of onions and tomatoes, making it both flavorful and pleasantly tangy! *Karaage Curry Udon, at $15.95, consists of curry-soaked fried chicken pieces with Udon noodles in a slightly spicy, sweet and sour curry sauce. The chicken was lean and skinless, and the Udon was smoothly tender, making it a very satisfying dish. *Unatama Donburi for $15.75 means eel and soft scrambled eggs over rice! It's hard to resist the delicate texture and the sweet taste of the Japanese BBQ eel alongside the half-cooked eggs. Summary: Tasted authentically like Tokyo, affordable pricing with dishes ranging from $15 to $20. The only downside is the smaller portions, especially when compared to the popular neighbor, Noodle Dynasty. 📍Muracci's 2428 Telegraph Ave, Berkeley, CA 94704. #Muraccis #JapaneseCurry #BerkeleyEats #AuthenticTokyoFlavors #AffordableDining #CurryLovers #FoodieFind #BerkeleyEats

SF Food | Only Open Two Days a Week and Worth the Wait!! 👍

🥞 Alinco 🉑️ Ube pancake 📍 1050 Valencia St, San Francisco, CA 94110 ▫️ Only open two days a week, and it's hard to get a reservation. The only two days they are open, they operate from 10 AM to 3 PM. The neighborhood is difficult to find parking and considered unsafe, so be cautious. It is advisable to make a reservation in advance. ☕️☕️ Vietnamese Ice Coffee w/ Ube As a non-coffee drinker, I ordered a cup to try because of this unique ube combination. The ube at the bottom is very sweet, perfectly balanced with the coffee! The only problem is that it's a bit hard to sleep at night after finishing it 😂 🧇🧇 Korean Fried Chicken w/ Waffles I debated between rice porridge and waffles, but I ended up choosing waffles (definitely need to try the porridge next time!). The waffles themselves have a savory taste, and the topping tastes like a fusion of black sesame and butter. It's best to dip them while they're hot! Absolutely delicious! However, the waffles don't taste good after they cool down, is that a downside? The fried chicken next to it tastes exactly like the Korean kind👍 🥞🥞 Hot Ube Pancakes An internet sensation! This huge plate of purple pancakes went viral for a long time! So this time I came to try them too, but wow! The portion is too big?!?! A plate bigger than a washbasin, filled with pancakes bigger than a face, almost every table ordered them, but almost every table ended up taking them to-go, they are just too much to finish 😂 The texture is soft and chewy, and it's not overly sweet, which is a real plus! The ube sauce on the side is generous! The coconut shreds on top are also fragrant and sweet. ▫️ The overall portion is truly generous! The taste is great, and it looks fantastic, worth visiting frequently if you can get a reservation! When we went there that day, the indoor seating was extremely crowded, to the point where it felt a bit uneasy. After all, it is still the time of a pandemic, and the indoor capacity seems uncontrolled, with people waiting indoors, which made us a bit nervous while sitting and eating! Even outside, it was packed with people! After eating, you can go to Arcana, the plant shop with a unique ceiling next door (recommended in a previous post). #BayAreaFood #BayAreaLife #WhereToGoInBayAreaOnWeekends #FoodieFind
