Naming my dog for AKC registration was way more intense than I expected. I thought I could just pick something cute, but there were so many rules! My breeder told me about the whole kennel name thing, so that had to be the first part. Then I had to come up with something unique, but not too long—36 characters max. I tried mashing up names from my favorite places and even mixed in old pet names for a twist.
I almost used a breed name by accident, but caught it just in time. No titles or gender words either, which made it even trickier. After a few tries, I finally found a combo that worked and sent it in online. When the official certificate came, it felt like my dog was royalty. Now, everyone laughs at his fancy name, but at home, he’s just my buddy.
