Mori Point | Unbeatable Bay Area Ocean Views Hiking Trail 🌊🌊

Half Moon Bay is truly a hidden gem! This newly discovered hiking trail has mountains and ocean views all along the way 🌊 A 180-degree unbeatable ocean view, you can even see the distant Farallon Islands on a clear day. The scenery is quite similar to that of 📍Point Reyes in Northern California, and there's a part that kinda feels like Dinosaur Bay in Hawaii (though the water quality isn't quite as good). ⛰️The main trail is about 2.5 miles total with an elevation gain around 400ft. There are many smaller trails you can mix and match. Some offshoots are a bit steep, and there are quite a few wild paths. But as someone who struggles with uphill climbs, I can assure you that you can finish it all in a slow 2-hour walk. The entire journey is moderately tiring, with wonderful views as you aim for higher peaks. 🐶 Dog friendly, lots of people bring their pups for the hike. . 🌟 Wear grippy sneakers👟, there are many pebbles when going downhill, which may get slippery. 🌟 Wear a tight hat or one with a strap, the wind can be quite strong. 🌟 Apply sunscreen, UV rays are quite strong once you're up the mountain because there's no shade. 🌟 Nearby, there's a nice spot for crabbing 📍 Pacifica Municipal Pier. If you want to buy seafood, come for the hike earlier so you can finish in time to go shopping at 📍 Pillar Point Harbour. 🌟 The fog in the Pacifica area can be thick sometimes, so definitely check the weather before you come. The view is much better on clear days. . 📍 Loyal Order of Moose 🅿️ For parking, I recommend navigating to 👆 this location, it's the starting point of the hiking trail. Parking is limited and it's mostly residential around. If you want to be safe, come early or else you may have to street park in the residential area. When we arrived after two in the afternoon, it was already full. 🅿️ There's another parking area, you can navigate to Mori Point Parking Lot. . Take a leisurely stroll, chat, climb hills, snap pictures. #MoriPoint #BayAreaViews #HikingTrail #OceanScenery #HiddenGem #DogFriendly #GrippySneakers #Sunscreen #PacificaPier #ClearDays

Bay Area Kid Outing - Experience the Call of the Wild at Bass Pro 🐺 14 Pics?

This outdoor-gear superstore in West San Jose is massively impressive! It might be a bit out of the way, but it's the only one in the Bay area, so it's totally worth a visit! Here are some highlights: One massive aquarium - the prized sturgeon (picture 3) is the star of the store. As the largest freshwater fish in North America, it can live up to 100 years, grow up to 6 feet long, and weigh up to 2,000 pounds. So, the one in the tank is just a baby! Fishing 🎣! From huge yachts to fishing bait, this place has everything an angler could need. You can even climb aboard the 70K yacht in pictures 11/12 for hands-on fun. Hunting🏹️! Bows, crossbows, daggers, firearms, and ammo - it's all here! Aside from the adult compound bows, there’s a great selection of kid bows too - so age isn’t an issue if you want to learn. As for the long and short guns, check out pictures 6/7. Dog Friendly🐶! Amazingly, dogs are allowed inside. Not sure if it’s only hunting dogs though. Saw a black Labrador, will bring my Golden Retriever next time! Beyond these highlights, the store has countless outdoor equipment covering all aspects of daily life. It’s super exciting to be here, feels like you're about to embark on a wilderness adventure at any moment! 🚩Bass Pro Shops 5160 Cherry Ave, San Jose, CA 95118 #BayAreaKidOuting #ExperienceTheWild #BassProAdventure #OutdoorGear #WestSanJose #FishingFun #HuntingTime #DogFriendly

🍻 Visiting Lagunitas Taproom: Fun Times and Tasty Brews! 🐶

Atmosphere: - Busy Saturday afternoon with a long wait to get seated - Live music that day, but it was SUPER loud - Got a table towards the back for a better conversation environment Service: - Friendly waitress, although hard to get her attention due to the crowd - Opted to order drinks at the bar for quicker service Limited Release Beers: - Tried a flight of beers, including disorderly teahouse spiked teas and hazy IPA unintended tropiquences - Favorite was the spiked teas, with only 100 calories per serving - You can even buy them by the case in the gift store! Gift Store and Photo Booth: - Gift store offers cute products to purchase - Don't miss the fun photo booth right outside! Food: - Ordered fries, nachos, and a large pretzel for the group - Garlic fries were meh, but the truffle ones were better - Nachos were good, but they could've been more generous with the cheese - The star of the show was the soft and delicious pretzel Overall Experience: - Had a fun time and would definitely return - Great spot to hang out with friends or even bring the family - Plus, it's dog friendly too! #LagunitasTaproom #CraftBeers #LiveMusic #LimitedRelease #DeliciousPretzel #DogFriendly

Stop Leaving Your Dog at Home!

Ever get that look from your dog when you grab your keys? You know, the one that says, "Betrayal." Same. From cafes with dog menus to shops that hand out treats at the door, the world is (slowly) realizing dogs make everything better. If you’re in the Twin Cities, check out Sidewalk Dog’s epic list of pet-friendly spots—think restaurants, bars, markets, and even pumpkin patches. But honestly, wherever you are, it’s worth sniffing out local businesses that let you and your pup hang together. Austin: Dog Parent Paradise Unlocked

Ever tried vacationing with your dog and ended up somewhere that treats pups like second-class citizens? Yeah, me too. That’s why Austin, Texas, blew my mind. This city isn’t just dog-friendly—it’s basically a canine utopia. Imagine hiking the Ann and Roy Butler Trail with your furry sidekick, skyline in the background, both of you pretending you’re in a movie montage. Or chilling at McKinney Falls State Park, where the waterfalls are Insta-worthy and the walk from the parking lot is so short, even my lazy corgi approved. Hungry? Over 500 restaurants let your dog join you on the patio. Some, like MUTTS Cantina, even have dog menus. And if you want to sip a drink while your pup makes new friends, Yard Bar is basically a dog park disguised as a bar (or vice versa). Austin gets it: dogs are family. If your travel plans don’t include your four-legged bestie, you’re seriously missing out. #DogFriendly #AustinTX #TravelWithPets #Pets

finding hidden swimming holes near the tri-state border

When I was a kid, summers meant slipping away to secret creeks with my family, the air thick with laughter and the scent of wildflowers. Now, living in upstate Pennsylvania near the NJ and NY borders, I find myself longing for those old swimming holes—places where the water runs cold and clear, and dogs can splash without a care. But things have changed. Back then, nobody worried about property lines or community rules. Today, every trail seems to have a sign: 'No Dogs,' 'Private Property,' or 'Swim at Your Own Risk.' Some folks say it’s about safety and keeping nature pristine. Others, like me, remember when sharing these spots was part of what made our communities strong. Last week, I tried to revisit a creek my father showed me decades ago. The path was overgrown, and a new fence blocked the way. I felt a pang—was I trespassing, or just trying to keep a tradition alive? My dog whined, eager to leap in, but I hesitated. I hear younger hikers talk about geotagging and social media, while older neighbors worry about crowds and litter. There’s a real clash: do we keep these places secret, or open them up for everyone? And with this summer’s heat waves, finding a cool, safe spot feels more urgent than ever. If you know a place where dogs and people are still welcome, I’d love to hear about it. Maybe together, we can find a balance between preserving nature and sharing the joy of a summer swim—just like we used to. #nostalgia #triStateHiking #dogFriendly #Travel

hunting for dog-friendly swimming spots near the tri-state

Last weekend, I packed up my old Subaru and set out with my dog, Max, hoping to find a good swimming hole somewhere near the PA, NJ, and NY borders. We drove through winding backroads, passed a few sleepy towns, and even stopped at a diner that still serves coffee in those thick ceramic mugs (you know the ones). But every spot I found online either had a 'no dogs allowed' sign or was so crowded, it felt more like a public pool than a hidden gem. Honestly, it’s starting to feel like finding a quiet, dog-friendly swimming spot around here is some kind of local secret. I get that not everyone wants wet dogs shaking off next to their picnic, but come on—there’s got to be a place where both humans and pups can cool off without getting the side-eye. Anyone else run into this? Where do you actually go when you want to swim with your dog and not feel like you’re breaking the rules? #triStateAdventures #dogFriendly #swimmingHoles #Travel
