I’m in a weird spot with my boss and a Christmas card. Help
I work in a tiny office and my boss and his wife are about to head out for vacation. Today, I saw them whispering and heard the wife ask, "Should we give it to her now?" She then handed me an envelope, telling me, "It's more than just a card." I waited until I was alone to open it, but all that was inside was a Christmas postcard with a "thank you" sticker on the back. No cash, no check, nothing.
Given the whispering and her specific comment, it really feels like they intended to include a bonus, which is standard here, but maybe just forgot to tuck it in? Now I’m spiraling about how to thank them. If I just thank them for the card, and they thought they gave me money, it’s awkward. But I can't exactly ask where the cash is. What’s the move here?
