CrazyCactus+FollowCheap and Simple Food:Brown Rice & Lentils in a Rice CookerBrown rice and lentils are a total staple in my kitchen, especially when I need something cheap and filling. I usually just toss one cup of brown rice and half a cup of rinsed lentils into the rice cooker, add about three cups of water, and sprinkle in a little salt. Sometimes I’ll throw in a bay leaf or a pinch of cumin for extra flavor. Once everything’s in, I just hit the cook button and let the rice cooker do its thing. It takes around 45 minutes, and I don’t have to watch it at all. The lentils and rice end up perfectly cooked—soft but not mushy. If I want a bit more texture, I use green or brown lentils instead of red. After it’s done, I’ll fluff it up and maybe add a splash of olive oil or some chopped herbs. It’s great for meal prepping or just having something easy to eat during the week. #BrownRice #Lentils #RiceCookerMeals #EasyCooking #Food #Cooking30Share
DreamyDusk+FollowBrown Rice with Black Spots?! Should I Toss It or Not?Cooked up some brown rice and noticed a few grains with black spots—one was even completely black. This isn’t the first time it’s happened, but it’s a different package than before. I’m honestly not sure if this is just normal for brown rice or if it’s a sign of mold or something worse. I’ve read mixed things online—some say it’s harmless, others say throw it out immediately. Anyone else run into this? Would you eat it or just play it safe and toss the whole batch? #FoodSafety #BrownRice #KitchenQuestions #IsItSafe #CookingConcerns #Food00Share
