Naming My Baby: The Name Struggle!
Naming my son felt like picking a Hogwarts house—so many boy names, each with its own vibe! 😅 I wanted something classic, but not too stuffy, and unique, but not weird. Here’s what actually helped:
🔹 Made a shortlist of names I loved (Oliver, Felix, and Bowie all made the cut!)—writing them down made it feel real.
🔹 Said each name out loud with our last name—Oscar sounded like a movie star, but Oscar Smith? Not so much. 🙈
🔹 Checked meanings—Leo means “lion,” which felt strong and sweet. My husband vetoed anything that meant “elf spear.”
🔹 Asked family for their faves—my mum pushed for William, but my heart was set on something less royal.
🔹 Tried out nicknames—Percy is adorable, but I realized I’d call him “Perce” half the time.
🔹 Parent confession: I once picked a name just because it sounded posh, then realized I couldn’t pronounce it right at 3am!
How did you finally decide on your baby’s name? Did you go classic, modern, or totally unique?
