Jeremiah 29:11 “For thus says the Lord, when 70 years are completed for Babylon, I will visit you and keep My good promise to you causing you to return to this place“. Israel had suffered the consequences of her sin. Having ignored God’s repeated warnings of a coming judgment, the Holy City fell to the Chaldeans and the children of God were taken captive. Did any one of them wonder why God allowed them to be taken out of the land of promise? Both Moses and Jeremiah had a word from God, a word that directly related obedience to blessing. Jeremiah 7 “But this thing I did command them: ‘Listen to and obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, so that it may be well with you.’ Quickly, we realize sin and its consequences are not God‘s plan for us, but rather something that must be dealt with. God will use our sin to bring us to the crossroads in the Land of Decision…one road is called Wicked and the other Righteous… one way is darkness. the other is light. Jeremiah is speaking to us, we may be coming out of a season of correction or discipline for our own sins or, we may be suffering because of the sin of another. Either way, Jeremiah reminds us of God’s purpose and plan for our lives…What God thinks of us. He cares about what we do and where we go, He offers His peace, reminding us about the hope for our future and the security we have in Him. His plan for us is not wickedness, but of righteousness. When we think of the future He has planned for us do we consider it might not be a big house with a white picket fence and two cars in the garage? Do we come under the influence of the Holy Spirit and allow Humility and Love and Peace to guard our hearts and ‘sculpt’ our desires? Are we looking for the hope, His promise through the eyes of our spirit… or is the ‘flesh’ pounding at the door, demanding our attention? What is the peace God has planned for us? What is the hope and the final outcome He
