Yesterday I cried upon the news of the death of Dolly Parton I was born and raised in the great smoky mountains of western North Carolina in Asheville and lived and worked here pretty much my whole life in the nc mountains our accent on this side of the mountains is more country over the hill the Tennessee side it is what we call “the Tennessee Twang” And hers was perfect how she managed to keep it she must have spent a lot of time at home Dolly embodied the culture we both were raised it kind to everyone you meet not judging anybodies book by there cover honest in all your business dealing to a fault never heard of any lawsuits with her here your reputation means more than anything here also knowning in the big picture you really don’t matter but everybody else does when the wild forest fires devastated TN mtns I told my wife from Sarasota Dolly’s honing do do something big to help because they are “her people” my wife did not understand I said you will sure enough along Dolly gave out checks for over 1000 dollars for the victims and say if you need take it in a interview that asked her why she did so much her reply was “ well you got to understand these are my people” never forgot where she was from one day in her life that Lady grew up in a valley but build a mountain god has a specific Lady by his side and imagine the choirs around Dolly May god bless you Dolly we always loved you ……..
