I get so frustrated watching the news. It feels like the ultra-rich and the powerful politicians can get away with absolute murder, and everyone just worships them like they are untouchable gods. But the Bible has a brutal reality check for people like that. In Acts 12, King Herod gives this massive political speech, and the crowd starts screaming, "This is the voice of a god, not of a man!" Herod just stands there and soaks up the glory. He didn't give praise to God. So the text says an angel of the Lord struck him down instantly, and he was eaten by worms and died. It is one of the most gruesome, terrifying executions in the entire Bible. It’s a violent reminder that human empires are incredibly fragile.
