WORDS TO PONDER "O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." (Psalm 34:8)... "This time of year people are starting to harvest their gardens of fruits and vegetables. Have you ever gone to an orchard and bit into a sweet apple straight from the tree? It is wonderful how the Bible uses the sense of taste to help us understand the goodness of God. It does not just stop with seeing or hearing how good the Lord is, but it uses an expression - that we can understand and experience at a deeper, more intimate level: TASTE. In fact, the Bible refers to the sweetness of God in several different passages. "How sweet are Thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!"- Psalm 119:103 "More to be desired are they then gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb."- Psalm 19:10 As you can see, the Holy Spirit inspired the psalmist to use the sense of taste to compare His Word to things that are sweet and pleasant. Dear friend are you tasting and enjoying God's goodness for all it really is?"
