People say they want honesty, but most people only want honesty when it agrees with them. The minute a truth challenges their opinion, their politics, their favorite celebrity, their family, their community, or their lifestyle, suddenly the truth becomes “hate,” “judgment,” or “negativity.” That is why real conversations are dying. Everybody wants a platform, but nobody wants correction. Everybody wants to speak, but few people want to listen. At some point, we have to ask ourselves: do we really want the truth, or do we only want people to confirm what we already believe?
