1 John 2:24 Let that therefore abide in you, which you have heard from the beginning. If that which you have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, you also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. John explains that if the gift you receive remains within you, you will continue to be in the Son and in the Father. He then describes this relationship as eternal life, which is the promise, eternal life.
