Matthew 5:8 Blessed…having a happiness from experiencing God’s favor regardless of what we’re going through. Even when it ‘feels’ like He’s no where near, we know His favor through His Truth and promises. Having experienced His unfailing Love, having already experienced how His Mercies are new every day, knowing He meets us right where we are keeps us from falling into the trap of Despair. Knowing we’re blessed when we don’t ‘feel’ blessed is a welcome infusion of reality and truth, a result of training, conditioning through the Revelation of His Grace. Classes in the school of the Holy Spirit teach us to trust Him, to believe in Him, to have faith in Him regardless of physical circumstances. Jesus tells us this blessing is conferred on the pure in heart. A Pure…clean…heart. This is something we can’t offer on our own. Our hearts can never be made clean without Jesus. As Jesus washes the disciples feet, Peter fusses at Him, wanting to be washed all over, to be ‘clean enough’ in order to be considered as belonging to Jesus. His response to Peter was “Anyone who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is clean all over.’ Peter had already acknowledged Jesus as the Son of God, he was already ‘clean’. We don’t clean up, make ourselves presentable to God before He wraps His arms around us, placing on our shoulders, the robes of Righteousness. It’s our heart He wants. He’s the One Who makes the way. This is an ‘attitude’ of the heart…our heart. We choose righteousness, allowing Him to make us pure, it’s Him Who sets us apart for Himself as holy… Lord, listen to our hearts, do a work in us, create in us a pure heart. Thank You for Your blessings.
