Almost all of my dogs have been rescues, as well as two cats. They were all unwanted. Best pets ever. They KNOW they were rescued & are the best pets ever: loyal, loving, patient & very funny!! When it was time for some of them to make their transition to Rainbow Bridge, I stay with them till the end, pet them, talk to them, tell them I love them, thank them for finding their way to me so they could live a good long life (as puppies) or to live out their remaining years in a good home (older dogs). I tell them they were my best friends & that I’ll never forget them. To help me get over my sadness, as soon as I’ve able, I get another pet that needed a good home. When friends or families have lost pets, they say they won’t get another animal because THEY don’t want to go through that pain again. I know that pain many times over & tell them that it’s not about THEM, but about saving another innocent life.
