1 Corinthians 3:16 The Corinthian church was ‘feuding’. Fighting amongst themselves. A spirit of division had planted its ‘flag’, taking the spirits of Harmony and Unity captive. Truth was being ‘pulled apart’, sectioned off by a self-righteous spirit, embedding itself in the body of Christ. Paul reasoned with the church, encouraging them to discern and understand what they knew to be true. He brings them back to the Basics… they’re God‘s temple, not the building, but them, collectively and individually. The spirit is at home in them, each one of them, permanently. And… Each one of them has a gift, something to give to the whole body of Christ, all fitting together as one. One teacher wasn’t better than another, the message, the incorruptible truth of the Word was what mattered. “Whether Paul or Apollos or Peter, or the universe or life or death, or the immediate and threatening present, or the subsequent and uncertain future— all are yours”. Our faith is only fractured by denominations when we allow them to cause division among the body of Christ. The Truth has already sent us free when we put away the wisdom of this age and embrace His Truth… we have so much to learn. Spirits of Discernment and Understanding aren’t given to us to cause division, creating factions within the body, but rather to know Truth, for conviction and restoration to the body of Christ. Lord, we’re grateful for the servants, those tending to the flock, sharing Your wisdom, helping us to focus on what’s most important…You. Help us to grow to maturity strong spirits of Humility, Contentment and Harmony to be used for Your Glory.
