Amazon’s $6B Package Shakeup: What It Means for Your Doorstep

nice one-sided view -- another perspective is USPS is tired of an agreement that benefits only Amazon and drives USPS further into the red. Amazon doesn't have the infrastructure or manpower to deliver it's own volume, and if they did, their prices would be significantly higher. Meanwhile, USPS can make less revenue while also shedding extra man-hours and maintenance trying to deliver packages for pennies on the dollar, and can then focus on delivering for their own network where profit is found and invreasing it's customer satisfaction. The sheer amount of overtime that USPS will save by not having to deliver Amazon's inefficiently packaged, oversized, overweight, and time-sensetive items will quickly offset losses once that extra volume space is taken by a bidder that pays a fair value for the service. Volume doesn't equal profit.
