Get off your horse about pit bulls any dog is capable of doing harm to someone, there’s no difference than bad parenting. We have a 140 lb Cane Corso and you have to be in charge. Something had to set it off.I’m so sorry this happened to this young lady.Dogs are not inherently wild animals but are very protective. A lot of folks are getting these breeds and don’t have a clue what they are doing, just don’t blame the dog i’ve seen small dogs go after people. All people should be responsible for their animals and not help create bad situations

I agree, to a point. I was bitten by a dachshund as a child. The difference in injury was because of the breed. Pit bulls are called that generic name because those dogs were bred to fight bears and boars in pits. Big jaws that lock down. The girl died because it was her boyfriend's dog in strange territory. Not surprised the dog reacted. Sorry it happened.

It’s not a high horse people are on it’s a warning to owners about how dangerous these dogs can be. If you pit owners never have an issue with your dog choice consider yourself lucky. But I’d dare you to talk to anyone who’s lost someone to a pit bull attack and plead your awe they are sweet case and perhaps they can give a refresher course in just how “sweet” they are.

Pits are amazingly loyal and kind. It’s always the owners who are jackasses. Like any terrier, they must be handled with particularly soft hands and kind hearts.

I agree with you. When a pit bull “snaps” I think of two things. Inbreeding or bad owners. I have been bitten 3 times. Heeler, Doberman and a poodle mix. I used to ride with dad in his truck to pick up milk from farms, worked as a vet tech and volunteered at a shelter. I can’t count all the dogs I’ve met so I feel lucky that I only got bit 3 times.

Had 14 Rottweilers never had a vicious one had ones that need to be trained to control their protectiveness. I had one I had to take the bite school so he would control his aggression in the right manner, but never tried to buy anybody unless he was told to proper training. I have one pitbull my daughter’s dog strong as a Knox stubborn trainable, but you have to have a lot of of patience.
