Can't understand why Crocs are popular

They've somehow become incredibly popular, and I find myself genuinely puzzled by it. From a traditional viewpoint, they aren't exactly what comes to mind when you think of aesthetically pleasing footwear. They have a rather... distinctive look. And honestly, when it comes to comfort and practicality, I'm still trying to grasp their appeal. They're not quite as airy and open as a flip-flop or sandal for true breathability, yet they certainly don't offer the formality or structure of a proper shoe.
