Halong Bay Was Stunning. I Felt Numb Anyway

Everyone raves about Halong Bay’s limestone towers—2,000 of them, stacked like a screensaver you can’t quite touch. I floated past them on a boat, camera in hand, waiting for awe to hit. It didn’t. Maybe it was the humidity, or the silent pressure to be moved by beauty on command. Maybe it was just me, tired and a little hollow, surrounded by people pretending to be present. The water was green, the rocks were ancient, and I felt like a ghost in my own story. No one tells you how easy it is to feel nothing in a place everyone says is unforgettable. #Travel #TravelConfessions #HalongBay
