I'm 40, my wife is 40, and we're expecting our first child. We have $1.5 million saved, our house is paid off, and I make $280k a year running a business that completely depends on me. My wife earns $20k. Building this business has drained me mentally and emotionally. I can't sleep, can't enjoy my wife's pregnancy, and feel like a shell of myself. The stress is constant, and I worry about what kind of father I'll be if I keep living like this. We've talked about me closing the business and finding a lower-stress job, but the thought of making less money makes me anxious. I come from a poor background, so letting go is terrifying.
